BEAUTY OF ANTIQUES

All of us lock our homes for safety.

When we were kids, in our home, only the main door was locked. Bedroom doors were not even closed, let alone locked. I still wonder how privacy was maintained.

Today the doors are locked primarily for physical safety reasons. Most of the valuable possessions are locked in the banks.

However, in olden times, all the wealth was kept in the house or dug and buried in a safe place.

Maybe that's the reason why the locks were so heavy and big. They keys could double up as a weapon.

The locks salvaged and reused in SILVER BROOK ESTATE HOMESTAY, were picked up from the streets of Karaikudi. They have historical connection with the Dindigal locks. They are in perfect working condition.

Checkout the video...one even rings a bell while locking.

Imagine the kind of wealth these locks would have protected.
